Food delivery has become such a big part of our lives in recent years, especially now that the coronavirus pandemic has forced many to adjust their dining habits.

Uber Eats has noticed some trends in their delivery requests and has compiled them into its third annual Uber Eats Cravings Report, a snapshot of the most popular, the most surprising and some of the most unique delivery requests from the last twelve months.

The most popular food and request combos include:

  1. Burrito + Cheese
  2. Cheeseburger + Pickle
  3. French Fries + Salt
  4. Chicken Sandwich + Mayo
  5. Breakfast Sandwich + American Cheese
  6. Chicken Kabob + Pita
  7. Tacos + Sour Cream
  8. Pizza + Mozzarella
  9. Salad + Ranch
  10. Bagel + Cream Cheese

The most popular delivery requests in the US include:

  1. No Onion
  2. Extra Sauce
  3. No Tomato
  4. No Cheese
  5. No Ice
  6. Spicy
  7. Well Done
  8. No Mushroom
  9. No Pickle
  10. No Sour Cream

The top 10 most ordered items:

  1. French Fries
  2. Pad Thai
  3. Garlic Naan
  4. Soda
  5. Miso Soup
  6. California Roll
  7. Chicken Tikka Masala
  8. Edamame
  9. Mozzarella Sticks
  10. Spicy Tuna Roll

Uber Eats has also noticed specific trends during the last few months of orders. Among those are:

  • The pandemic accelerated the adoption of grocery delivery by several years.
  • Bananas are the #1 selling grocery item in the US.
  • Compared to before the pandemic, side orders of cheese fries increased more than 1,234%.
  • You’re so extra. Extra soy sauce, extra spicy and extra gravy were on the rise last year, while requests for “extra avocado,” “extra mayo,” “extra pickle” and “extra ranch” slowed down.
  • Requests for “no egg,” “no jalapeños,” “no cilantro,” “no cucumber” and “no vegetables” increased dramatically over the last year, while folks asked for “no mustard” much less frequently.
