Hostess, the maker of America's most iconic snack cakes, is giving consumers the perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day this year with the launch of new Chocolate Creme Twinkies. Following a special limited-edition offering of the treat last spring, the popular golden cakes' signature creme filling is getting a chocolatey makeover just in time for the sweetest holiday of the year – and the flavor is here to stay.

James Dewar invented the Twinkie in 1930, calling it "the best darn-tootin' idea I ever had." Improving upon such a beloved and iconic treat was quite a task for Hostess - which produces over 500 million Twinkies a year. After an overwhelmingly positive consumer response to the limited-edition of Chocolate Creme Twinkies, it was clear that adding chocolate to Twinkies was a recipe for delicious success. The new decadent chocolate-filled treats will be delighting consumers this Valentine's Day as sweethearts enjoy a new twist on a treat that has been keeping Americans smiling for more than 80 years. Available in multipack and single serve options, Chocolate Creme Twinkies will join the original vanilla creme Twinkies, as well as Hostess' entire line of snack cakes, on shelves across the country on February 6th, 2012.

"For over 80 years, Twinkies have been delighting Americans with their delicious golden cake and creme filling, and new Chocolate Creme Twinkies will be giving Hostess fans a chocolatey twist on an iconic treat that will keep them smiling for years to come," said Amy Clark, Director of Snack Marketing for Hostess.
