Two years ago, Cincinnati’s iconic Busken Bakery added innovative summer treats to the menu in the form of donuts featuring ice cream from regional companies Graeter’s. The bakery’s Halos are stuffed with ice cream and then hot pressed for a sealed, caramelized glaze.

Among the options currently available are Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Peach, Chocolate and Cookies & Creme. Customers can get the Halos at Busken Bakery’s walk-up window, which also serves regular donuts, coffee, muffins and more.

The window is open on Tuesday-Wednesday from 8 am-noon, and Thursday-Saturday from 8 am-noon and 7-10 pm. The bakery introduced the window at the back of its baking facility in Hyde Park – at the corner of Wasson and Edwards Road, adjacent to the Wasson Way Trail – to cater to the runners, walkers, bicyclists and families that pass by.

Busken Bakery has been baking in Hyde Park for nearly 60 years. When the trail opened last year, the owners decided that a back-door concept serving hot donuts would become a reality. The grand opening of the renovated store coincided with National Donut Day, which took place on Friday, June 4.
