Manresa Bread founder Avery Ruzicka is innovating again. This time, her newest creation, “Bake with Manresa Bread” mixes are available for nationwide shipping and local pick-up, either individually or as a bundle—making them an interactive way to enjoy the bakery’s favorites at home.

Each mix features house-milled flours and includes directions for conventional or vegan preparations. Featured mixes are sold individually or as a bundle ($45) and include House Milled Rye Mocha Brownie Mix and House Milled Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix.

“Our team is the heart of our bakery and their safety, as well as yours, is our number one priority,” the award-winning baker says. “We have organized our offerings to keep our team and our customers as safe as possible.”

In addition, Ruzicka readies for spring with Easter, Passover, and Mother’s Day specials from her Los Gatos, Calif.-based retail bakery operation.

Easter and Passover pre-orders started March 12, for socially distanced pick-up at the Los Gatos, Los Altos, and Campbell bakeries, and for nationwide shipping.

Mother’s Day pre-orders will be available April 19, and guests can enjoy new treats like donuts, macarons, and “Bake with Manresa Bread” mixes—a fun reason to gather family in the kitchen and bake together.

Manresa Bread will also be popping-up at Mentone, in Aptos, CA for Easter and Mother’s Day, with dates and times to be announced. As always, customized gifting options, and a form for orders over $150, are available through its website, www.manresabread.com.

Manresa Bread’s Easter menu features two babka flavors ($22)—Coconut and Chocolate—for locals and those ordering from afar.

Mother’s Day specials

This Mother’s Day, Ruzicka features new and delicious ways for guests to pick-up treats to celebrate their mothers, including naturally leavened donuts; macarons; cinnamon rolls ($25); and a seasonal Manresa Bread Cookie Tin (20 cookies; $55) featuring five varieties—Chocolate Pistachio Rye Biscotti, White Flower Lemon Lavender Shortbread, Einkorn Palmier, Red Wheat Confetti Cookie, and Almond Flour Mexican Wedding Cookies—each highlighting a different freshly milled flour.

Manresa Bread is a neighborhood bakery led by Ruzicka, the founder, and conceived in the kitchen of chef David Kinch’s three-Michelin-star Manresa restaurant. Ruzicka mills 90% of the—primarily local—grains in house; sources high-quality artisanal ingredients; employs time-honored baking techniques; and uses natural fermentation processes to create a rotating selection of sourdough loaves and sweet and savory pastries.

The James Beard Foundation nominated Ruzicka for “Outstanding Baker” in 2018 and 2019. Manresa Bread has San Francisco Bay Area bakery locations in Los Gatos and Los Altos, and an all-day café in Campbell. The breads and pastries are also available at Verve Coffee locations in Santa Cruz and Palo Alto, and through national shipping to the lower 48 states.
