A new pop-up series in Durham, North Carolina will feature accomplished bakers from around the state throughout the winter and early spring.

The Durham Hotel is hosting Sweet + Salt, a new bakery pop-up series where North Caroline bakers bring their goods to Durham for one morning to share with customers. Select Saturdays at the Coffee Shop in the lobby from 10 a.m. to noon, guests can taste breads, cookies, pastries, pies, and more from some of North Carolina’s best bakers.

The series kicks off January 11 with Andrew Ullom, who will bring his pastries and breads from Union Special in Raleigh, North Carolina. Andrew and his team create sweet and savory pastries with inventive flavor combinations and sourdough breads made with locally-milled flour and a single whole-wheat natural sponge.

Following that, the rest of the pop-up schedule looks like this:

  • Jan 25 – Handy + Hot, a small-batch, mail order bake shop from Vivian Howard in Kinston, North Carolina
  • Feb 8 – Boulted Bread, a Raleigh bakery founded in 2014 by Joshua Bellamy, Sam Kirkpatrick, and Fulton Forde
  • Feb 29 – Bonjour, Y’all, a French comfort and Southern nostalgic bakery in downtown Davidson, North Carolina
  • Mar 21 – Snack Service, a weekly order-ahead delivery service from multiple-time James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist Phoebe Lawless
