Now in its fifth year, Trick-or-Treat with East Midtown has welcomed 13,000 families to East Midtown in New York City for a unique event in which children 12 and under and their families trick-or-treat at the neighborhood’s local businesses.

Several bakeries and dessert shops will take part in the event, being held on Thursday, October 31 from 3-7 p.m. EST. Among those is Insomnia Cookies (warm cookies), Baked by Melissa (bite-sized cupcakes), a la mode (teal pumpkin treats), Dylan’s Candy Bar (candy samples when guests take part in the shop’s Halloween games and activities), Jacques Torres Chocolate (candy), Padoca Bakery (candy), Pick-A-Bagel (candy), and Starbucks (cake pops).

More than 100 businesses are distributing sweets in the area, with the aim of providing kids in one of Manhattan’s most bustling neighborhoods with a unique Halloween experience. East Midtown is partnering with ‘Ween Dream, a nonprofit that provides free costumes to kids who are facing challenges such as homelessness, special needs, the foster care system, and kids who have experienced a recent trauma or natural disaster.

Ween Dream is an all-volunteer, national nonprofit helping children in need across America. These children, or ‘WEENSTERS, are faced with unique challenges, including those with special needs, physical and/or mental disabilities, homeless children, kids living in poverty or at shelters, children with serious medical issues, kids in the foster care system, and kids who have experienced a recent trauma or natural disaster. Since ‘Ween Dream began in 2014, over 13,000 ‘WEENSTERS have received costumes in 38 states.
