On Monday, San Francisco’s Vive La Tarte opened a new location in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. The bakery made headlines last year for its “tacro”, a mash-up of croissant and taco.

Now, residents of LA will get to enjoy this food innovation, along with more classic pastries. The owners have been working on getting the new location up-and-running for well over a year.

Vive La Tarte can be found in four locations, including three in San Francisco.

The tacro uses a flaky, buttery croissant dough to house savory taco ingredients. Included in it are pickled onions, fresh cabbage, microgreens, sliced radishes, and mango salsa. Additionally, it comes with a choice of chicken and avocado, pulled pork and pineapple, or BBQ jackfruit.

The bakery wanted something “unique, yet recognizable” to debut at its second location in January of 2018. The tacro took months of development to get the recipe just right, but that wait has paid off.
