Joanne Chang, the chef and co-owner of Flour Bakery + Café, loves to share her expertise. The former winner of the James Beard Award for Outstanding Baker provides a variety of classes at her locations in Boston and is the author of four acclaimed cookbooks.

The latest addition to her cookbook collection arrives in early November. Pastry Love: A Baker's Journal of Favorite Recipes provides over 125 recipes that are approachable and traditional, yet imaginative. Everything from breakfast pastries, sweet and savory breads, pies, cakes, candies, and stunning desserts is covered in this recipe collection.

Chapters are arranged by pastry type, beginning with early morning breakfast and ending with end-of-day treats. Within each chapter, the recipes start from easiest to more challenging. The book also includes master lessons and essential techniques for making pastry cream, lemon curd, puff pastry, and more, making the book essential for beginners and expert home bakers alike.

The book comes out just in time for the heart of the fall season and before plenty of beloved holidays. Fall favorites, Thanksgiving pies, fresh holiday cookie ideas, and festive cakes are some of the book’s highlights. There are also gluten-free recipes that don’t compromise on flavor, such as apple spice pecan muffins.
