A highly-anticipated new store from Milk Bar that has been in the works for over a year and a half will finally make its debut at Cambridge, Massachusetts’s Harvard Square on Saturday, February 2.

The bakery’s joint venture with Washington, D.C.-based pizza restaurant &pizza was first announced back in July of 2017. Since then, the two companies have worked tirelessly to get its shared space off the ground. Now, the project is ready to be unveiled and become a major part of that historical community.

Milk Bar CEO Christina Tosi and &pizza CEO Michael Lastoria became fast friends after Tosi opened Milk Bar’s first D.C. location. They greatly appreciate each other’s sense of business and have even collaborated on products together: In 2017, the DC-based pizza chain began serving a cereal milk cream soda cookie and a cereal milk cream soda based on Milk Bar’s popular cereal milk.

According to Eater Boston, Milk Bar will serve an item exclusive to this new location – a Boston cream pie “milkquake,” Milk Bar’s soft serve blended treat. It will feature cereal milk soft serve blended with something Tosi refers to as “liquid cheesecake,” in addition to chocolate chips and fudge sauce.

Tosi has been looking forward to this new opening for quite a while, as Boston is where her husband’s family is from. “I’ve loved Boston for a long time, and it’s very much my home away from home,” she says. “I’m really excited to be a part of the community. I’m a big fan of everything the food community here stands for. I’m here for the loyalists that are Boston. I’m here for the accent. I’m here for everything.”
