On Tuesday, January 22, Starbucks announced that it has expanded Starbucks Delivers to an additional six cities across the United States. Through its partnership with Uber Eats, Starbucks’ delivery service will reach six new markets in San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C.

The successful expansion follows a test run in Miami in the fall of 2018. This pilot program saw strong demand, including repeat business throughout the day and positive feedback from customers. Not only will Starbucks offer the program in seven U.S. cities by the spring, but it will also be expanded to London as the first European city to trial Starbucks Delivers, powered by Uber Eats.

“We know we have untapped customer demand for Starbucks Delivers in the U.S. and starting today, we’re expanding our best-in-class experience to our customers both in and out of our stores,” says Roz Brewer, group president and chief operating officer for Starbucks. “We’re building on key learnings from past delivery pilots and by integrating our ordering technology directly with Uber Eats, we’ve unlocked the ability to bring Starbucks to customers for those times when they’re not able to come to us.”

By partnering with a fast-growing meal delivery service like Uber Eats, Starbucks can reach new customers, give existing customers a new method for adding Starbucks to their routines, and offer customers a premiere experience in a growing mobile and on-demand economy.

Customers will be able to access Starbucks Delivers through the Uber Eats mobile app, available on iOS and Android devices. Powered by the Uber Eats platform, they’ll be able to follow orders within the app, tracking progress and location of their Uber courier to ensure proper delivery of their food and beverage items within 30 minutes. Starbucks has also developed packaging solutions to help ensure the quality of hot and cold menu items. Approximately 95 percent of its core menu is available through Starbucks Delivers.

In response to the growing global online food delivery market, Starbucks now offers delivery service in eleven of its global markets and will look to trial delivery pilots in other countries this year.
