During this past weekend’s PA Bacon Fest, a two-day festival dedicated to bacon that is held annually in Easton, Pennsylvania, a local bakery stole the show with a product that had little to do with bacon.

Instead, Sweet Girlz Bakery fried up something that wouldn’t normally be fried – cupcakes. These deep-fried desserts fit in with the festival vibe but stood out from other vendors with ten different flavor options, including s'mores, peanut butter, and strawberry.

Each cupcake is finished with a sprinkling of powdered sugar to complete the sweet taste. There is also a spicier option – Mr. Diablo – which features chocolate cake baked with fresh red pepper, filled with spicy cayenne and red pepper chocolate ganche, and topped with chilli powder and cayenne pepper cream cheese icing.

The shop also offers seasonal flavors like gingerbread and pumpkin ale.

Sweet Girlz started in 2008 by selling homemade jams from fresh fruit picked at local farms. Eventually, it expanded to cake pops and has continued to grow over the years into a successful bakery. Now, it offers an expanded menu that features cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, macarons, and much more.
