The biggest promotional opportunity of the year is almost here, as National Bakery Day takes place on Friday, September 14. Independent retail bakeries across the country will look to celebrate with special deals, giveaways, and promotions.

At Bethel Bakery in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, the shop will offer a Buttercream Sundae Bar. For $5, guests can customize a cup with yellow or chocolate cake, four ounces of buttercream, and toppings like Reese’s, Snickers, Oreos, and more.

Creative Cakes in Tinley Park, Illinois has been offering special discounts each day in the lead-up to the event, offering 25 percent discounts on strawberry items on Tuesday, 25 percent discounts on chocolate items on Wednesday, and 25 percent discounts on pumpkin items on Thursday. On National Bakery Day, the shop will run its popular Golden Ticket promotion from last year, in which five golden tickets in separate dessert boxes award the recipients each a $100 Creative Cakes gift card.

National Bakery Day is an excellent opportunity for bakeries to give back to the community. At New Glarus Bakery in New Glarus, Wisconsin, 10 percent of sales on Friday, September 14 will be donated to help those affected by recent flooding that occurred in Belleville, Wisconsin.

Local and state governments will also look to make National Bakery Day an official day with special proclamations. Thanks to the work of the Wisconsin Bakers Association, Governor Scott Walker has named Friday, September 14 as National Bakery Day in the state of Wisconsin.
