Harvest Time Bread Company, a leading producer of a wide variety of artisan breads, rolls, and whole-grain products, announced it will expand production at its Mt. Airy facility in North Carolina. The company purchased the previously leased Mt. Airy bakery in March 2010 and announced it would invest $4.5 million to upgrade the facility and expand production.

"This investment enhances our flexibility to meet changing customer needs while accelerating our capability to introduce unique new products," said Luis Pereira, Harvest Time Bread's president and chief executive officer. "With additional automated equipment in Mount Airy, we will continue our focus on producing the world's best artisan and ethnic breads, sandwich rolls, and custom food service products."

As a consequence of the expansion, the company will discontinue production at its bakery in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Harvest Time Bread will continue to serve northeast U.S. customers through its established logistics partner in New Jersey. "This transition is being managed carefully to maintain our production levels and inventories," said Pereira. "We do not anticipate our grocery and food service customers will experience any changes in deliveries."

Pereira said the expansion of the Mt. Airy bakery will provide an exceptional platform for growth. "With modern production lines, it is our newest facility and has achieved AIB International's Superior certification since opening in 2005."
