Philadelphia-based Federal Donuts is one of the biggest names in donuts in the country, thanks to James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Solomonov and his business partner Steve Cook. Aside from their booming business, the two have also co-authored a cookbook called Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, which won the coveted James Beard Book of the Year and Best International Cookbook in 2016.

Now, the duo is back with a new cookbook which came out on Tuesday, September 26. Titled Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story, the book serves as a biographical look at how they turned passion into a mini empire.  It features recipes for all of the shop’s popular cake donuts and fried chicken. Distinct flavors such as guava-poppy, pomegranate-Nutella, strawberry-lavender, and salted-tehina are featured.

The first Federal Donuts location opened in 2011. It was the result of a partnership between Solomonov, Cook, local coffee shop owners Tom Henneman and Bobby Logue, and Philly food expert Felicia D'Ambrosio. Since then, the shop has won many awards and now has five locations in the city.

Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story is available online and at bookstores now. The cookbook's release is being celebrated on Sunday, October 1 from 1-4 p.m. EST with a block party in Philadelphia. There will be live music, free fried chicken sandwiches, signature donuts and beer, and the authors will sign copies of the book.
