For the past few years, famous New York City bagel shop Black Seed Bagels has formed a unique partnership with local chefs to create sandwich experiences for its customers.

These limited-edition bagel sandwiches combine Black Seed Bagels’ artisan bagels with gourmet flair. Some of the city’s best chefs offer their takes on the sandwiches for a short period of time.

Black Seed Bagels is bringing back these collaborations starting in September. Beginning September 5 and lasting throughout the month, it will partner with East Village noodle shop Little Tong for a fiery flavor combination. Chef Simone Tong will pair Yunnan-style flavors with Black Seed’s special chili and Szechuan peppercorn bagel.

That collaboration will be followed by more exciting pairings, to be announced as they’re finalized.

Past pairings that have excited customers include a squid-ink bagel with white poppy seeds, whipped anchovy butter, and Iberico ham; a rye Everything bagel with slow-cooked pastrami bacon, baked eggs, and Gruyère; a toasted sesame bagel with smoked-salmon belly salad, cream cheese, and salt-and-vinegar chips; and, a za’atar bagel with labne, pickled turnip, shaved cucumber, radish, and mint.
