One of the best food holidays of the summer will take place on Friday, August 10, when National S’mores Day is celebrated around the U.S. This summer flavor has maintained its popularity for decades and has made its way to all sorts of desserts in recent years, especially at bakeries.

Retailers both big and small will feature the mouthwatering taste of s’mores in creative ways.

Dunkin’ Donuts recently brought back its popular S’mores Donut for a limited time. It features toasted marshmallow flavored filling and chocolate icing topped with a mix of crumbled graham crackers, marshmallow flavored pieces, and HERSHEY’S chocolate. Dunkin’ has even recommended that customers create a chocolatey, layered DIY S’mores Donut Dessert by drizzling chocolate icing and white buttercream on the top of a stack of the donuts.

Last year, Magnolia Bakery introduced a special flavor of its cherished banana pudding that made it a summer success. As part of the bakery’s “Summer Bananza,” it released a s’mores flavor that had layers of chocolate pudding, graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, marshmallow, bananas, and chocolate shavings.

Until the end of August, New York City's D? is running a pop-up shop that takes customers on a nostalgia trip back to their summer camp days. One of the special camp-related treats that can be enjoyed is The Campfire Sundae. This ice cream treat is reminiscent of a s’more, topping marshmallow soft serve with chocolate chip cookie dough, graham cracker crumble, torched marshmallow fluff, and milk chocolate ganache.

For those who want a special challenge, New York City’s sherry b dessert studio creates a massive form of the treat. The shop’s Giant S’more features toasted vanilla marshmallows sandwiched between two 9 × 9 inch “scratch-made” graham crackers coated with melted chocolate. It serves up to 12 people and can be delivered through Goldbely, GrubHub, and other food delivery companies.
