On July 4, cupcake enthusiasts will look to out-eat the competition at an annual event held by Myrtle Beach’s Croissants Bistro & Bakery.

For the seventh year, the South Carolina bakery will host the cupcake-eating marathon for competitors over the age of 18. They will have five minutes to eat as many cupcakes as they can, in hopes of winning $500 in cash and over $1,000 worth of prizes that includes tickets to Myrtle Beach area attractions, restaurants, retail stores, and more.

According to Croissants Bistro & Bakery, over 1,500 cupcakes were prepared and over 1,000 were consumed at the 2017 edition. Molly Schuyler ate a total of 59 cupcakes, a new record for Croissants’ Cupcake Contest, and was named Myrtle Beach’s “2017 Cupcake Champion”.

The 2018 event will be held at Croissants Bistro & Bakery’s Grande Dunes location on Wednesday, July 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m EST.
