Duck Donuts is one of the nation’s fastest growing donut franchises, expanding from its original location in North Carolina to more than 50 U.S. locations and well over 100 new stores under contract. This burgeoning cake donut provider is taking over the country, and now has its sights set on international markets.

On Monday, June 11, Duck Donuts announced that it had signed its first international franchise agreement with OBX Alimentos SpA, who is set to open 10 locations throughout the country of Chile in the next four years.

“Our international expansion marks a milestone for Duck Donuts Franchising Company as we continue to grow our brand and introduce our made-to-order donut model to those in Chile, while seeking additional opportunities in other countries,” says Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company. “Our new franchisees have a long family history of proven ability in owning businesses and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We are confident their dedication will contribute to a successful launch of this concept in a new country.”

The Dieguez-Acuna family looks to bring yet another unique American concept and its products to Latin America and adapt them to the local culture.

“Inversiones Rio Potomac Ltd., the Dieguez-Acuna family of Santiago, Chile and our ownership group are elated to announce our partnership to bring Duck Donuts’ custom made donuts to Chile,” says Marcial Dieguez-Acuna, partner of Inversiones Rio Potomac Ltd and CEO of OBX Alimentos SpA. “We look forward to having Chileans adopt this new concept with open arms and for Duck Donuts to become a significant player in the sweets industry in Chile. We will offer a superior product to current market standards and with the highest level of quality service. This dedication to detail and our strong partnership will guarantee our future success.”
