Nancy B’s Bakery in West Homestead, Pennsylvania has continued a generous tradition for over two decades. The small bakery has been sending cookies to military members overseas to places such as Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

The tradition started in the 1990’s when a family requested cookies for their son who was serving in Iraq. After he returned home, he went all the way from Michigan to Pennsylvania to visit the bakery.

The bakery was so inspired by that gratitude that it began sending cookies to military members every year, all out of its own pocket. Customers have even chipped in to help out, donating money for the shipping costs.

Nancy B’s expects to set a personal record this year, shipping at least 200 dozen cookies in 2018. This would triple the amount that was sent in 2017.
