Thursday, September 7 was National Mermaid Day. In honor of this unique observance and the popular food trend inspired by its subject, Karma Baker in Westlake Village, California offered a special themed donut for the occasion.

The bakery partnered with professional mermaid Linden Wolbert for the launch. Wolbert is one of the world’s foremost professional mermaids, traveling around the globe for events and being featured in major media outlets such as Buzzfeed, The Today Show, ABC’s 20/20, People, NPR, and many more.

“We are thrilled to have professional Mermaid Linden as the face of our donut campaign,” says Celine Ikeler, co-owner of Karma Baker. “She’s everything we envisioned in a mermaid, and she’s real!”

"When I first saw the Karma Baker Mermaid Donut, it was so beautiful I didn't want to eat it; but when I took a bite of that delicious work of art I was hooked!” says Wolbert. “I give this health-conscious sweet confection a hearty two fins up!"

The Mermaid Donut from Karma Baker features organic and gluten-free baking flour and vegan sprinkles. The donuts come in two flavors: buttermilk with white chocolate and chocolate with dark chocolate. Each donut costs $6.00 and a dozen donuts costs $66.
