Austin’s Skull & Cakebones recently took the top prize in the Quest for the Texas Best competition. Hosted by supermarket chain H-E-B Grocery Co., the competition featured 565 entrants from 200 Texas towns vying for the grand prize of $25,000.

Skull & Cakebones won the grand prize with its Mocha Marmalade Trifle. The decadent chocolate cake included layers of cocoa sponge sandwiched with coffee buttercream frosting. The layers were then coated with a chocolate pudding topping.

For its efforts, the vegan bakery not only wins the $25,000, but its Mocha Marmalade Trifle will be sold at H-E-B’s supermarket locations across Texas and Mexico.

The bakery will use its winnings to “pay off our freezer, take our staff out for a night of well-deserved fun, and save it for the next pitfall,” according to co-owner Yauss Berenji.
