Video: Empire Baking Company shows how to make its famous apple cinnamon walnut bread
Dallas, Texas-based Empire Baking Company prepares a fall flavor all year with one of its most popular products, its apple cinnamon ‘chopped’ bread.
The bakery makes this signature item by laying out dough, topping it with a cinnamon-sugar-egg-walnut mixture and Granny Smith apples, then rolling it and chopping it all together until it becomes one loaf.
Bakers form the dough into balls and place them in molds with spray or butter. Then, they rise for 30-45 minutes and rotate in an oven for another 45 minutes.
“It's all about the process,” head baker Chris Cutshall tells Dallas News. “It's not like following a recipe.”
Empire Baking Company makes the bread once a week on Thursdays and sells it in its store on Friday for $12 per loaf. It comes iced and can be enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack.
