Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas was recently awarded with a Texas Treasure Award from the Texas Historical Commission, presented to them by Texas State Rep. Byron Cook on Monday, June 5.

The award pays tribute to businesses that have provided employment opportunities and support to the state’s economy for 50 years or more. It was created in 2005 to recognize well-established Texas businesses and their exceptional historical contributions to the state’s economic growth and prosperity.

“It is a privilege for us to recognize our long-established business that have remained committed to Texans for generations, while creating jobs and stimulation economic growth,” said Texas Historical Commission chairman Matthew F. Kreisle III.

Collin Street Bakery was first started in 1896 and has been in business for an astounding 121 years. Over that time, it has been baking its world famous Deluxe Fruitcake. Today, they are still served, along with pecan cakes, cheesecakes, cakes, pies, cookies, and much more.
