Culver City’s Lodge Bread Co. recently reopened in an expanded space and its new menu has customers excited.

The beloved bakery restaurant originally opened in 2015 with a more specialized focus on “slow” bread crafted with organically-grown, seasonal whole grains using a naturally leavened process that allows for wild fermentation.

Lodge Bread’s co-owners Alexander Phaneuf and Or Amsalam were presented with the opportunity to expand into the space next door to the bakery and with that also the chance to expand the menu with pizza, beer, wine, and much more.

The growing food options also mean that the Lodge Bread Co. has become even more popular among Culver City residents and visitors. New expanded hours mean that the bakery will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and as late as midnight on Friday through Sunday.

Made with a soft yet chewy crust, Lodge Bread’s pizzas are the new stars of the bakery. They are available daily until the dough sells out. Pickled chilies, arugula, flowering broccoli, and black kale are among the unique toppings customers can get on their pizzas.

The bakery is sure to receive more future accolades for its work, led by Phaneuf and Amsalam who were both nominated as 2017 semifinalists for James Beard Foundation Awards in the Outstanding Baker category.
