California doughnut shop creates ideal brunch doughnut
Sidecar Doughnuts in Santa Monica, California has taken the brunch trend one step further by putting it all in one convenient pastry.
The Eggs Benedict Doughnut features a hole-less doughnut wrapped around a poached egg and ham, which is then proofed for 30 minutes, fried, and finished with a basil hollandaise sauce.
“We always wanted a savory option,” owner Sumter Pendergrast tells Thrillist. “We’re a traditional doughnut shop, so we do our take on traditional doughnuts.”
