Cake Off, a musical based on the competitive baking world, made its debut last month at the Bucks Country Playhouse in Pennsylvania, currently running through September 10.

The musical features former American Idol star Justin Guarini, and is about a single dad with a passion for baking who enters into the 50th Annual Millberry Cake Off. The stakes are high in this fictional competition — the winner snares $1 million prize. He faces stiff competition from a baking veteran who pushes him to the limit.

Cake Off debuted last year Virginia's Signature Theatre and was successful in its run. It is based on Sheri Wilner's play Bake Off, features music by Adam Gwon, a book by Wilner and Julie Jordan and lyrics by Gwon and Jordan. Gaye Taylor Upchurch directs. It also features choreography by Josh Prince and music direction by Andrea Grody. Lauren Helpern is scenic designer. Sarah Holden is costume designer. Gina Scherr serves as lighting designer.
