Kendall College announces a renewed partnership with the Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ) and sponsorship of the annual CAFÉ/Kendall College Green Award for an eighth consecutive year.

The Green Award is the first and only national award that recognizes secondary and postsecondary culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality-management programs for their commitment to sustainability practices and training. Selection criteria are based on the integration of sustainability concepts into educational programs and/or operations.

“Sustainability is integral to the Kendall culture—from our mission statement to our curriculum and operations,” says Christopher Koetke, CEC, CCE, HAAC, vice president of the Kendall College School of Culinary Arts. “With this annual award, Kendall College, in partnership with CAFÉ, recognizes the sustainability commitment of foodservice and hospitality educators and programs nationwide while building upon the body of knowledge and resources that can help other institutions in their journeys toward sustainability.”

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Kendall College to recognize and share best practices and successful teaching of sustainability with high schools and postsecondary schools throughout the United States,” says Mary Petersen, CAFÉ’s founder and president.

As a long-time partner, Kendall College and its School of Culinary Arts also work with CAFÉ to educate and support its network of instructors throughout the year.  “Kendall has been an integral affiliate in advancing CAFÉ’s mission to serve foodservice and hospitality educators nationwide,” says Petersen.

“From delivering professional development at and hosting regional workshops and Leadership Conferences, to contributing regularly to our monthly e-zine, ‘Gold Medal Classroom,’ and to advising on needed programs and services, Kendall College has helped propel CAFÉ’s growth in relevance and stature with educators throughout the last 13 years.”
