Boyer’s Coffee is celebrating 50 years of coffee excellence this year. However, a new family will serve the birthday cake. The Boyer’s Coffee brand has recently been acquired by local, family-owned, Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company. This adds the Boyer’s Coffee brand to an already distinguished family of brands, including Boulder Organic Coffee, Luna Roasters and Boca Java. The acquisition of the Boyer’s Coffee brand, land, buildings and other assets is the company’s fourth acquisition in the past 10 years.

Luna Gourmet has become a powerhouse in the coffee industry with offerings that cross the coffee spectrum. The executives’ handpicked team brings together experience from General Electric, ING, Amazon.com, Intuit, Build.com, American Blue Ribbon Holdings and Bueno Foods; and all of this business expertise is in addition to 70 years of artisan roasting experience on staff.

Owned and led by brothers Douglass and Jason Barrow, Luna Gourmet delivers ethically sourced, socially responsible, roast-to-order gourmet coffee. The addition of the Boyer’s Coffee brand of coffees to their portfolio tremendously increases the company’s product offering and reach. While the Boyer’s brand is associated with decades of quality, Luna Gourmet’s diverse array of products illustrates its position as a prestigious craft, third-wave coffee roaster. Each brand fits a specific consumer, ranging from single origin organic and Fair Trade Certified Coffees to flavored coffees and the best coffee blends imaginable.  To further cater to varying preferences, Luna Gourmet offers whole bean, ground and single-serve cups.

“We have taken a very calculated approach to building the most capable coffee roasting company in the U.S. Our family of brands’ strategy is to create the best experiences for everyone expecting a great cup of coffee,” said Jason Barrow, president and co-owner of Luna Gourmet. “We have built a large online consumer-direct model and a world-class direct delivery system that encompasses residential households and the largest retailers. We are very well positioned to deliver the best, freshest hand-crafted coffees locally and nationally.”

“My brother and I are excited to uplift and continue the Boyer’s Coffee 50-year legacy since there are only a handful of coffee roasters with our tenure and influence,” added Barrow. “We understand the history and craftsmanship of what makes the Boyer’s Coffee brand special, and it aligns with all of the brands in the Luna Gourmet family.”

Since 1965, the Boyer’s Coffee brand has been built on small-batch coffees using only the finest 100 percent Arabica coffee beans from around the world. Roasting craftsmanship is a part of the Boyer’s Coffee brand heritage, which is why Luna Gourmet still uses the same Probat Burns roasters from when Boyer’s first began roasting. The recipe for the brand’s success has been and continues to be quality beans, expert blending and roasting, and being in Denver. The high elevation and low humidity in Denver is the perfect combination for flavorful coffee.
