Buddy Valastro, star of the popular TLC show "Cake Boss," has joined Get Back to Scratch, a movement highlighting the growing demand for high-quality goods made from scratch. In support of this movement, he will unveil a custom cake creation and conduct a meet and greet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, in the Get Back to Scratch booth (#3638) at the 2011 National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show.

Valastro's passion for creating food with fresh ingredients and hard work manifests itself in his scratch-made baked goods and show-stopping, customized cakes. From a larger than life sandal cake to a miniature circus cake, Valastro never ceases to amaze his audience. His next masterpiece will be crafted in support of the Get Back to Scratch movement, and although the cake's design will not be unveiled until the 2011 NRA Show, it will reflect the passion for scratch-made goods that Buddy shares with his fans and colleagues.

"For me, baking is all about passion. My father taught me the art of baking and helped me to cultivate my techniques and my love for the craft," said Valastro. "I'm excited to take on this new baking challenge and show my support for the Get Back to Scratch movement; an initiative that allows scratch bakers and chefs like myself to unite, share our expertise and learn from one another."

Get Back to Scratch unites an online community of baking and culinary professionals, enabling them to promote their businesses, institutions and signature dishes, gain positive community awareness and visibility, enhance customer loyalty and drive sales to their locations. In addition, the movement offers access to unique resources, the opportunity to connect and engage with peers and customers, and a chance to win a Hobart Legacy Mixer. Consumers can also participate in the interactive and entertaining Get Back to Scratch online community, benefiting from quick access to local bakers and the quality foods and baked goods that they provide.
