Popularized a few years ago, the alcohol-infused dessert trend is moving up a notch, and the early results are very promising.

St. Louis pasty shop Piccione Pastry and 80 Proof Bakery recently announced a one-of-a-kind partnership. On Feb. 9, Piccione Pastry began adding 80 Proof Bakery’s liqueur-infused Bundt cake line to its offerings.

Infused with fine liqueurs, 80 Proof Bakery’s Bundt Cakes have a unique taste. The addition of liqueur creates an extra moist cake and provides the perfect balance between sweet and spice. Along with its signature, authentic Italian desserts, Piccione’s will sell Bola’s Bundt Cakes by the slice for $3.50 and whole cakes for $40 available in two flavors.

“When we opened our doors in 2013, we promised to bring exciting desserts to the historic Loop,” says Richard Nix, Jr., president of Butler’s Pantry, the owner and operator of Piccione Pastry. “Continuing that tradition, we are thrilled to announce the addition of 80 Proof Bakery’s line of Bundt cakes to our menu. We take pride in showcasing desserts with a twist and Bundt cakes infused with liqueur are the perfect addition to our special limited-time offerings.”

One of the new flavors is Bola’s Nola Bundt, offering the ultimate trifecta of butter, sugar and rum. It pairs wonderfully with coffee or tea.

The second flavor is Chocolate Vodka, which is a milk chocolate-glazed covered cake with a hint of coffee that is marinated with premium vodka.

And, as a special treat, starting Feb. 9, while supplies last, Piccione Pastry has been giving away complimentary samples of liqueur-infused Bundt Cake in both flavors.

Piccione Pastry, located in the historic Delmar Loop at the corner of Delmar and Skinker, is the only late-night Italian pastry shop of its kind in St. Louis. The shop features single-serve Italian desserts, rich Italian coffees, locally handcrafted gelato and sorbet and seasonal breakfast and lunch choices, including vegan, vegetarian, sugar-free and gluten-free options.
