Providing a safe work environment is your responsibility. It is possible your state offers programs that can protect your employees in a variety of situations. Some of these programs may offer wage replacement benefits, medical treatment and vocational rehabilitation. In addition, according to the US Small Business Administration, federal and state programs may offer benefits to employees or their dependents who are injured at work or acquire an occupational disease. On the other hand, these benefits depend on your state requirements.

Returning to work is most successful through quickly identifying the work injury or illness, promptly developing the case information, accurately assessing the nature of the disability and efficiently providing assistance services that will support recovery and return to work, according to the Department of Labor’s Strategic Plan. Every year in America, nearly 4 million people suffer a workplace injury from which some may never recover,” Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis said in a Worker’s Memorial Day Speech. With that in consideration, it is advantageous for a workplace to encourage and openly addresses the safety of its employees.
